If you’ve used both Weebly website builder and the Square store builder then you’ve noticed the huge difference between the two builders, although owned by the same company (Square).
WEEBLY WEBSITE EDITOR
Weebly editor allows you to do the following:
- Choose from a number of themes made by weebly
- or install/create a custom theme of your own
- Create customized designs to match your brand
- drag and drop elements to build
- get access to loads of apps (100+ apps) from the weebly app center
- setup membership,
- and more…
Square Store Builder
The Square store builder is very basic and is just for launching a simple online store. Above listed options (under weebly editor) is not possible with Square editor… at least not yet.
If you’re using Square store builder, you won’t be able to install any template, from us or use any of those templates provided by Weebly.
With Square store builder, all you can do is add your products and information, change colors and publish. With Weebly builder, you can do a lot more.
How can I tell which one I’m using?
Below screenshots show the differences between the two builders. Click on the screenshot to open full image.
1. WEEBLY WEBSITE EDITOR
If your website editor looks like above, then you can install and use our themes and plugins.
2. SQUARE STORE BUILDER
But if your website editor looks like below, then you’re using Square store builder which means you can’t install any template or use any of those ones provided by Weebly.

WHAT CAN I DO TO USE YOUR THEMES OR ANY OTHER THEME?
If you’re not happy using the Square store builder, you can create a new weebly account (with a different email address). Go to Weebly to create a new account.
While signing up you will be presented with two options: one for Online Store and the other for Website. Make sure you choose the option for “I Need A Website”.
You will still be able to sell online, the same way you’re selling with Square store. Both builders are owned by Square. You can export your products from Square and import them into Weebly, all at once.
You will still be able to connect to your Square, PayPal or Stripe payment solutions to receive payments.
