In previous articles. I wrote a lot about optimizing weebly website, pages and blog posts for search engines. In this article, I’m going to briefly write about choosing high performing meta keywords to boost your search engines ranking.

 

 

 

Meta Keywords are a specific type of meta tag that appear in the HTML code of a Web page and help tell search engines what the topic of the page is. Knowing how to write a good meta description will help you write good meta keywords and vice versa.

 

 

 

Weebly SEO – choosing the right meta keywords

When choosing meta keywords, you need to keep a few things in mind:

  • make sure that the words and/or phrases are relevant to the page,
  • each word or phrases must be separated by a comma, no spaces.
  • keep your words/phrases between 12-15. I recommend max of 15.
  • include at least one word or phrase in the SEO page title
  • include at least one word or phrase in SEO page description (i.e meta description)

Meta keywords for local SEO

Most website owners wants their websites optimized for their service areas. To do this, you need to include your service area among your meta keywords. In addition to the name of the town(s) you service, you should include a zip code as well as the sate/city.

 

 

In the example below, I’m going to write a meta keyword for a plumber in Bestville, with a zip code 6473 located in Melbourne.

plumbing,plumber,plumbing bestville,bestville plumbing,bestville plumber,plumber bestville,plumbing in bestville,plumber in bestville,plumber 6473,plumbing 6473,plumber in 6473,plumbing in 6473,plumber in bestville melbourne,plumbing in bestville melbourne,bestville melbourne plumber,bestville melbourne plumbing.

 

Remember, NO spaces between the words/phrases. The keywords must be relevant to the page. In the example above, I wrote meta keywords for a page on the website titled “Plumbing”. If writing for another page on the same website, depending on what the page is about, I would use slightly different keywords.
