I came across a weebly website owner with a private practice (counseling) website who was so worried about being able to sell her services directly on weebly.
From her understanding, to sell online you need a physical or digital goods. To be honest, she wasn’t crazy because until weebly recently added “Service Products” to a list pf their product types, selling services on weebly was a problem for most.
THAT’S RIGHT, YOU CAN SELL SERVICES ON WEEBLY
Weebly recently introduced the “service’ product type and it’s a long awaited feature for majority of weebly users. Now, you can create a product on weebly and choose product type as “service”, connect to a payment gateway and start earning.
- STEP 1: On your weebly website editor, click Store,
- STEP 2: Click Products > Add Product,
- STEP 3: Enter product information and upload an image representing the product,
- STEP 4: Under Product Type, select “Services”,
- STEP 5: Save product.

Online Store Best Practices
On multiple occasions, I have come across websites with products without an image and I have to say, this is not a very good practice. Even if you have a service product, try to create an image representing that service. Something as simple as below image will do.
OR SELL YOUR SERVICES OUTSIDE WEEBLY
Until the introduction of service product type, most website owners (not just weebly) prefer selling their services directly via PayPal. How this work is that you host your website on weebly but direct website users to subscribe to your services on another website/platform (e.g PayPal).
Must read: Host your website on weebly, sell your product elsewhere
If you are selling outside weebly then you can’t use weebly store because products created via weebly store will checkout via weebly (not elsewhere). But it’s possible to use weebly store if you are using a weebly theme that have weebly product pages with ability to checkout elsewhere.
An example is this theme: Franchise Theme. In this example weebly theme, the “Add to cart” and some other features has been disabled and a drag and drop field has been introduced making it easy to drag and drop a button element and link to another website (e.g checkout elsewhere).
To sell services outside weebly:
- STEP 1: Drag and drop IMAGE element on a standard weebly page,
- STEP 2: Click to upload an image representing the product,
- STEP 3: Click on the image, click Link > Website URL,
- STEP 4: Copy and paste the URL of your product checkout page, click away.
Of course if you are using PayPal you can easily generate “Buy Now” and “Add to Cart” buttons to embed on your website using EMBED element.
To summarize, if you own a weebly website you can definitely sell your services.
